Our Curriculum

After graduating three, I am now down to only three children left homeschooling. Yes, it is rather melancholy, and the empty chairs at our learning table bring much reminiscing. It has been a challenging, yet wonderful journey!

I have had to make some major changes recently to our home learning method, due to a condition that I have developed called POTS {Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome}. Those changes have resulted in the need to change the resources we use. Sonlight has served us very well over the last 3.5 years, and we do continue to choose reading material from the collection {my bookcases are overflowing} of wonderful books I have acquired, for both independent reading and our read aloud selection.

We are now schooling with mainly A.C.E. {Accelerated Christian Education}, using supplemental materials to enhance our learning, bring in broader learning style opportunities, and also to keeping things interesting. A.C.E. is a thorough foundation of the good 'ole '3 Rs' of yesteryear, that is so easy to beef up in many ways to suit any family.

A.C.E., even though created to be a very self-paced, independent program, allows me to be very involved the majority of the time {which I, personally, prefer}, yet it still goes smoothly on those days when my health demands that I cannot. So, even when I'm having horrible flare-up days, the core schooling still gets done. It's a perfect solution for our family dynamics.
